Marian Szymanowski stammte aus Polen, und zwar aus der Kleinstadt Murowana Goślina, 25 km nördlich von Posen. Er war 1943 mit 19 Jahren verhaftet worden. Über das KZ Groß-Rosen kam er Mitte Februar nach Hersbruck. Hier starb er noch Anfang April 1945.
Seine Verwandten besuchten 2008 Hersbruck. Sie stellten auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Lagers diese kleine Erinnerungstafel ab, auf dass „das Andenken nicht der Verjährung unterworfen“ werde
